Kwong Ho Him, British and Hong Kong local Cellist/ Pianist, graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with the Master of Arts (Music) Degree. During his early years, his eagerness towards exploration and participation in various orchestra tours have steered him to travel more than 30 countries globally.
Kwong’s ability had soon been recognized during his music undergraduate life in HKBU, majoring in Music Education. Besides being the cello co-principals in the HKBU Symphony Orchestra and HKBU Collegium Musicum, he was also the scholarship recipient from the Hong Kong Talent Development Scheme from the HKSAR Government. He has been officially representing the HKBU Music Department heading towards the Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) for an interview with the RTHK 4 Buddies Programme in 2014. Apart from the RTHK Interview, he has also been invited to the Lingnan University (Hong Kong) twice as the guest lecturer for holding two musical seminars with the associate students in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
Kwong has obtained the ATCL diploma certificate (with Distinction) in cello and the DIPABRSM diploma certificate in piano. Since 2010, he has been studying with Miss Dora Lam, the assistant cello principal in HK Philharmonic Orchestra. Kwong started playing the piano at the age of 4 and was the winner of 59th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival - Piano Solo (Composer of the Year) in 2007 while he started playing the cello at the age of 7.
Kwong is active in sharing and fostering music in numerous fields. Recently within the Hong Kong music industry, he has collaborated and worked with Hong Kong local pop singers Juno Mak (麥浚龍), Supper Moment (Hong Kong Local Band) and TikChi (迪子) from 2014. Their song albums and recordings has been published and broadcasted locally. Apart from performances, Kwong has more than 8 years of private teaching experience, in additional to teaching and coaching the school orchestras and cello classes in various primary school, secondary school and international schools. He has also been offering piano accompanying services to all levels. Recently, he is an active member and one of the past board committees of the La Salle College Old Boys’ Association – Music Board who organize and participate the yearly event (LSCOBA Music Concert) with his brothers and friends.
Previously, Kwong has collaborated with various soloists during his life and participation in masterclasses. He has worked with Valentina Lisitsa, Mengla Haung, Sung-Won Yang, Pablo Mahave-Veglia, Ryu Goto, Simone Lamsma, Warren Lee, Sarah Chang and Dan Zhu. In 2007, he has participated as a guest cellist in Thailand Cultural Exchange Programme with the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2009, he was the guest piano performer in the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music for the Joint School Beijing Music Tour. In 2011, he has headed towards Canada with La Salle College Chinese Orchestra to perform four concerts in Toronto. In 2012, he has travelled with his HKBU Collegium Musicum associates to Europe for five concerts in Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria. In 2013 and 2015, Kwong has two China performance tour with his HKBU Symphony Orchestra associates and the New Asia Chinese Music Society (CUHK) in Guangzhou and Shenzhen respectively.
