Staff Biography
Chong Ka Ying is an active clarinetist, who receives her Bachelor of Music in Education (Honours) degree from the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd), where she double-majored in Contemporary Music and Performance Pedagogy. She studies clarinet as a major instrument under Mr. Lee Man Ho. Chong has achieved a Distinction in Licentiate of Trinity College of London (LTCL) in 2015 and Distinction in Associate Diploma of Trinity College London (ATCL) in 2013.
Chong has taught music classes in Po Leung Kok H.K.T.A. Yuen Yuen Primary School, Caritas Tuen Mun Marden Foundation Secondary School and instrument lessons privately for more than 4 years. With the experience of taught 6-year-old to adult students, she has teaching methods to work with all age groups and understand their learning difficulties.
During her study in HKIEd, she has participated different ensemble. She is as the Bass clarinet, 1st and 2nd clarinet player in the HKIEd Symphonic Band from 2013 to 2016. Also, she is a clarinet player in the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra (HKYSO) from 2015 to 2016.
Chong believes playing solo instruments can build up personality and confident manner of students. Learning clarinet is excellent not only for developing the technical learning, but also for the musical learning.
