Staff Biography
Shania Chan developed her interest in music at an early age. She started her music training by learning piano, then started her saxophone study at the age of 11 under the coaching of Ms. Fanny Lau in Our Lady’s Primary School. She held the certificate of ABRSM Grade 8 piano, saxophone and theory, as well as the Associate Certificate in saxophone performance from London Trinity College (ATCL).
Shania is currently a music student of the Hong Kong Baptist University under the tutelage of Mr. Jeffrey Chan. During her studies at HKBU, she has been a member of Hong Kong Baptist University Wind Symphony. She is also a regular member of Hong Kong Young Musicians’ Wind Orchestra and La Sax Saxophone Ensemble (HK). In 2015, together with La Sax, Shania performed with a well-known Japanese saxophonist Nobuya Sugawa in La Sax 10th Anniversary concert.
Shania actively participated in a variety of music activities. She used to be a member of Hong Kong Citywinds Ensemble and The Education University of Hong Kong Symphonic Band. Besides, in order to learn and get inspiration from different musicians, Shania has actively participated in master classes by Timothy McAllister, Nathan Bogert, Nobuya Sugawa and Chih-Huan Wu and Lars Mlekusch. Moreover, Shania is passionate in participating overseas activities. She has joined the Hong Kong International Saxophone Symposium in 2016, and the Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy in Thailand as well.
