Staff Biography
Law Xi Ning Kening, graduated from the Michigan State University, USA, Master in Clarinet Performance, and the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), majoring in composition and clarinet and Postgraduate Diploma in Education of Primary music from the Hong Kong Chinese University (HKCU). In HKBU, Law studied electronic music with Doctor Christopher Keyes, and composition with Doctor Christopher Coleman. She study clarinet with John Koljonen, former principal of Hong Kong Philharmonic, and others.
Law start playing clarinet in secondary school. She has been joining local orchestras and symphonic bands. For example, the Hong Kong Festival Youth Wind Orchestra (HKFYO), the Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia, and more. She was also a member of the Hong Kong Festival Wind Orchestra and Hong Kong Baptist University Orchestra. Besides, Law participated in exchange programs in other countries. The most recent participation was a 2012 tour of Thailand with the Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia. She joined masterclasses by famous clarinetist, for example, Eli Eban, Yehunda Gilad, etc.
Apart from joining orchestras, bands, and exchange programs, Law was being invited as a soloist for HKFYO, playing Weber clarinet concerto No.2 in 2014.
In 2012-2103, Law was awarded the HKSAR Government Talent Development Scholarship.
