Staff Biography

Charles Lam finished his  BA (Hons) in Music and MA Music at Hong Kong Baptist University, studying orchestral conducting under Dr. Jerome Hoberman, violin under Dr. Gilbert Sak, piano under Miss Grace Lau, and composition under Dr. David Urrows. 

 

Charles is experienced and professional in conducting, performing and teaching. He is now the conductor of the Resonance Piano Company Orchestra, and he is the former assistant conductor of the Kwai Tsing Philharmonic Orchestra and the Sak Chung Shan Memorial Catholic Primary School Orchestra. During his years in Kwai Tsing Philharmonic Orchestra he conducted numerous concerts, including the annual concert of the Hong Kong Music Education Institution in Cultural Centre, Christmas concert at Kwai Tsing Theatre and National Day concert at Tsuen Wan Community Centre.

 

Charles was a former first violinist in the Baptist University Symphony Orchestra, Kwai Tsing Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Pro Arte Symphony Orchestra. During his years in the BUSO he cooperated with renowned musicians, including pianist Nancy Loo, violinist Rachel Lee and soprano Jeffie Leung. During his playing in Pro Arte he collaborate with pianist Shum Kin Wai. Charles is now the String Director of a music company “Musicism”.
