Anson Sin is currently studying for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music programme at Hong Kong Baptist University. He is majoring in Piano Performance Concentration, studying piano with Mr. Cui, Shi-Guang (one of the greatest composers and pianists in China), and minoring in both violin with Mr. Lee, Sai-Hong Simon, and viola with Mr. Tsoi, Ray.
While he was studying at Peninsula College in the United States, he was active attending events related to music; he played the violin in Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra, Port Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Port Townsend Community Orchestra. Also, he won the competition with “Honorable Mention” in 2013 Young Artist Competition. After that, Sin was honored to be invited to play Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no.1 and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, with Port Townsend Community Orchestra as both a solo pianist and violinist under the conducting by Mr. Ehling, Dewey, who is one of the greatest conductors in the peninsula.
When Sin studying at Hong Kong Baptist University, he performed the entire Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto no.1 as a solo pianist in December 2015 under the conducting by Wilson Ng, who is one of the great young conductors in Hong Kong.
Sin has performed both as an active piano soloist and a collaborative player. After returning to Hong Kong, he actively participates in a variety of performance activities, including playing the piano in Hong Kong International Youth Philharmonia, playing the violin in HKBU String Ensemble, and also one of the members in Baptist University choir. During his studies, he has participated and performed in masterclasses offered by renowned musicians such as Prof. Alexander Tutunov, Prof. Lance Wisemen, Mr. Choi, Sown-Le, and Ms. Nacy Loo.
Sin has won competitions in Hong Kong, including Winner in Hong Kong (Asia) Youth Piano Competition 2015, First Class in the Open Class of 2014 Tchaikovsky and Kabalevsky Piano Competition of 14th Hong Kong (Asia Pacific) Piano Competition, Second Place in 2015 Hong Kong Music Competition for Young Pianists, Third Place in 7th Hong Kong Students Open Music Competition, and a number of prizes in Hong Kong Schools Music Festivals.
Sin also gives instrumental lessons (Piano, Violin, Viola, Grade 5/8 Music Theory) to share his profession to his pupils. Moreover, he used to teach the piano at Peninsula College in the U.S.. In Hong Kong, besides giving private lessons, he has taught the violin at different secondary schools in Hong Kong (including Kiangsu-Chekiang College (Shatin), St. Antonius Primary School, S.K.H. Ka Fuk Wing Chun Primary School, a number of international schools, etc.)
Last but not least, Sin is a passionate in sharing his “joy” of music. Also, he is the founder of Garlic’s Music Zone, as a place for his pupils’ families, friends, and classmates to communicate to each other.
