Annie Yuen received her Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in Music with First Class Honours from the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), where she studied with Nancy Loo, who is one of Hong Kong’s most versatile artists, as pianist, radio programme host, actress and writer. Annie was named the winner of HKBU Annual Concerto Competition in 2010 performing Rachmaninov’s second piano concerto with orchestra and was given Audience Choice Award. Later on, she continued to study with Nancy Loo in the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Recently, Annie finished her Master degree in Manhattan School of Music in New York under the tutelage of Jeffrey Cohen, student of Menahem Pressler. During her studies, she played in master classes conducted by famous pianists Nelita True, Edward Auer, Jean-Paul Sévilla and Collin Stones.

 

Learning piano since the age of five, Annie won her first championship in Hong Kong Music Festival when she was eight years old. Since then, she was one of the frequent prize winners of the festival. Apart from solo piano, Annie is a keen accompanist and she has rich experiences to work with different musicians and chamber groups. She studied chamber music with Heasook Rhee and Gerald Robbins in New York. She has worked with students of famous musicians like violinist Lucie Robert, flutist Robert Langevin, cellist Marion Feldman and saxophonist Paul Cohen. She also plays the organ, passed LTCL (recital) with distinction and has performed in Hong Kong Cultural Centre. She now leads a busy life of teaching and performing.
